Pole dancing is an enjoyable activity with some fantastic benefits.

Pole dancing has shifted from clubs into dance studios in recent years, with people using it as a unique and fun way to stay fit. As an activity requiring full body engagement, it comes with many benefits.

If you are considering taking up a new hobby and are still determining if pole dancing is for you, then look no further.

If you’re looking for a full-body workout, as well as excellent mental benefits, then pole fitness may be the activity for you. Here are some fantastic health benefits of pole dancing to convince you to start.

    5. Improved flexibility − move your body in angles you never thought were possible

As we age, our joints become less flexible as we don’t readily exert them as we did when we were children.

Not all is lost, however, as we do have the power to condition our bodies to become more flexible, and pole exercise is the perfect way to do this.

As it requires full body engagement, you will quickly become more flexible as you become more engaged with your practice.

So, if you find yourself getting stiff after those long office days, then pole dancing may be right up your alley. In our books, improved flexibility is one of the top benefits of pole dancing.

    4. Great for mental health − all exercise is excellent for the head, and pole fitness is no exception

Our body releases endorphins when we exercise, which are scientifically proven to improve our mental health by reducing anxiety.

With maintained practice, you will also notice a profound change in your body confidence as your body noticeably becomes more healthy.

As pole work requires the use of the whole body, you are most definitely taking control of your own body, which is empowering in its own right.

People of all shapes and sizes turn to pole dancing workouts, not just as a means of keeping fit but as a means of taking ownership of their bodies and learning to love themselves entirely in their own skin.

Pole dancing is a fantastic boost for the mind, body and soul, so what are you waiting for?

    3. Improved sleep patterns − one of the benefits of pole dancing

If you find falling asleep at night difficult, this may be the exercise for you. Improved sleep cycles are one of the many benefits of pole dancing. There is a proven link between aerobic exercises and sleep quality.

As an aerobic exercise, pole dancing is no exception when it comes to improving our circadian rhythm. As this exercise uses a lot of energy, your body and brain will be more receptive to sleep, which is excellent for any insomniac reading.

It is also an exercise that will encourage the production of endorphins and serotonin, contributing to a more balanced sleep cycle. So, if you find yourself tossing and turning at night, pole dancing may be an excellent activity to engage yourself in.

    2. Increased strength − this full body workout will strengthen and tone your whole frame

If you come to a class with little to no body strength, you can expect to see a vast difference in your abilities after only a few sessions.

As an exercise that requires using your entire body, you will find new strength in the most unexpected places.

From your back muscles to your forearms, your biceps to your triceps, you’ll find yourself firming up in areas you hadn’t even considered before your pole fitness journey.

The apparent core abdominal muscles will also firm up as you swing around the pole, attempting to pull off the perfect move. Plus, as a fun exercise, you won’t even notice you’re getting fit; you’ll be too busy having fun!

    1. Weight loss − pole dancing is a fun way to lose weight

It’s no great secret that cardiovascular exercise contributes to weight loss. Pole dancing is a cardio and strength workout, so you can shed some pounds and gain muscle in one go.

As a high-energy exercise, you will lose a lot of calories while having a lot of fun at the same time. Suppose you’re looking for a workout to help shed some excess pounds while also building muscle. In that case, pole dancing is the exercise activity for you.
